London’s Brazilian Film Festival

For those of you who didn’t see the comments left by followers of Born in Brazil in the previous blog post, then let me alert you to a Brazilian Film Festival taking in place in London from September 1 to 5

The event itself, here in London for the second time, takes place at various venues, including the Southbank and Piccadilly Circus, and is sponsored by the Brazilian government.
The line-up is distinctively arty, and ranges from films about the current Brazilian president, Lula, (pictured); a dancer turned middle-age porn star; and a love story between a transvestite and lesbian. More mainstream, but an equally interesting film, is Beyond Ipanema, about music and Brazil’s iconic musicians, including many who have already featured in this blog such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Os Mutantes.
There are many more so take a look and let me know if you catch any.
