Condé Nast to expand in Brazil with Globo
Yet more proof that Brazil is a country on everyone’s lips comes from a joint venture between Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue, and Globo, which controls the leading broadcast television network in Brazil.
The new publishing venture - Edições Globo Condé Nast – plans to launch a number of titles from the Condé Nast portfolio over the coming years, with a focus on fashion and lifestyle. A spokesman for Condé Nast told me: “There are no imminent launch plans for new titles, although this is something being looked at closely and will be announced in due course.”
Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Condé Nast International, said it was Brazil’s position as a “key, growing market”,that led the business to partner with Globo.
Roberto Irineu Marinho, chairman of Globo Media Group, added: “This initiative shows Globo Media Group’s commitment to attend the demands of the Brazilian public for information and entertainment of high value.”
In addition to magazines, the joint venture will also develop brand-based digital businesses.
